Harold L. Tempest, age 61, of 133 Spruce St., Tunkhannock, PA (formerly of Millersville, PA) passed away on June 25, 2013 in Montrose, PA suddenly. He was born on July 22, 1951 the son of the late Harold H. and Ann Winsco Tempest. Harold was a graduate and class president of Mahanoy Area High School class of 1969. He also received an associate degree in Electronics from Ryder Technical Institute, Allentown, PA. He worked for Hahn in Lancaster as a foreman. He also worked at UGI in Lancaster for 25+ years as a welder until he retired in 2007. After he retired he and his wife of 39 years moved to Tunkhannock and continued to work for gas companies most recently with Williams Mainstream as a certified Construction Pipeline Welding Inspector. Harold was a member of Moose Lodge #1276 in Tunkhannock and a social member of the V.F.W. Post # 7294 in Millersville. He enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycles, hunting, especially pheasants at Ringneck Ridge in Laceyville, PA, fishing, and watching NFL football games. He especially enjoyed watching his daughters and their children participate in all of their sporting activities. Harold loved his family and friends very much. He had a big heart and a big smile and only wanted the best for his girls. He was a dedicated and driven worker, who was living his dream working on the pipeline in NEPA. Harold will be remembered and missed dearly by all. He is survived by his wife Mary Burke Tempest, whom he married on September 7, 1974; his daughters and their husbands Colleen Tempest Newswanger (Cale) of Tunkhannock, Kelly A. Myer (Scott) of Cape Girardeau, MO, and Stephanie Tempest Marino (Timothy) of Pennsburg, PA; and his grandchildren Caden and Taryn Newswanger of Tunkhannock, Everett and Brennen Myer of Cape Girardeau, MO and Parker and Sadie Marino of Pennsburg, PA. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Anne Louise Tempest and an infant grandson. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, 73 West Tioga St., Tunkhannock, PA with Rev. Lori Robinson of the Factoryville United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at the Sky-View Memorial Park in Tamaqua, PA. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, June 29 from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.
