Obituary of Arlene Luce LaBar

Arlene Luce LaBar of Lakeville, MN, formerly of Tunkhannock, died Saturday, October 26th . Born on November 12, 1919 in Jenks, PA she was the daughter of the late George D. and Ethel Harding Luce. She was a 1936 graduate of Tunkhannock High School, received her BA in 1940 from Bucknell University and in 1945 received her master’s degree from Columbia University. Arlene taught in high schools in Nicholson, Tunkhannock, Scarsdale, NY, Lower Merion PA and Somers NY. In 1963 her husband accepted a position in Norristown, PA so they moved there until she returned to Pennsylvania in 1966 and began teaching in Lower Merion High School in Ardmore, PA. In 1969 she returned to New York where she taught in the Somers Central Schools, at Pace University and Iona College. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon Renee LaBar. Surviving is a son Craig of New Jersey, a daughter, Adrienne L Murawa of New Paltz, NY, a daughter Renee and husband Derek DeRosia of Lakeville, MN, grandchildren Monique LaBar, Joshua and Taryn DeRosia, and Shane, Dakota, and Hunter Murawa. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Friday November 1st from the Eaton Baptist Church with Pastor Kurt Bricker presiding. Interment will be in Perrins Marsh Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Arlene’s name to the Eaton Baptist Church, 820 Hunter Highway, Tunkhannock, PA. 18657. Arrangements by Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, Inc., 73 W.
