Obituary of Geraldine Mattocks

Geraldine Oakley Lake Mattocks 93, of Meshoppen died Thursday evening at the Golden Living Center in Tunkhannock. She was preceded in death by her husbands Searle “June” Lake and Durland Mattocks. She was born on July 7, 1921 in Springville Twp. in the family home on Strickland Hill daughter of the late Luther and Ila Mae Sutton Oakley. Geraldine was a 1939 graduate of the Springville School where she played the violin in the school’s band. She worked as a cosmetologist owning and operating her own shop, and was an accomplished seamstress and cook. She is preceded in death by Brothers Paul Oakley, Dillis Oakley, Sisters Betty Martin, Retha Singer, and nephew Dale Martin. She is survived by daughter Cindy Lake and husband Terry Holdridge, of Meshoppen, brother Jack Oakley, of Springville, Brother in law Douglas Singer, of Springville, grandchildren Tracy Holdridge, and Doug Chapman of Newfield NY, Chris Holdridge, and Lisa Fawcett of Meshoppen, several nieces nephews and cousins. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM from the Church of Nativity BVM, Tunkhannock. Calling hours will be held Sunday from The Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home; Inc. 73 West St. Tunkhannock from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
