Obituary of Larry N. Failing

Please share a memory of Larry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Larry Nelson Failing, 42, was called home on October 12, 2016. He was born on February 12, 1974. He was taken unexpectedly at his residence in Key West Florida, where he had lived for the past eight years. He was a 1992 graduate of Tunkhannock Area High School, where he learned his love of photography and developing his own films. His other hobbies included music. Never being able to read music, he played mostly by ear. He was the only child of Theodore “Ted” and Margaret “Peggy” Abrams Failing. He was loved by all who knew him, with his sense of humor and off-colored jokes. He was the one his friends always went to for advice. He made everyone laugh and will be missed by everyone, as he has touched so many lives. He lived a free life, full of adventure. While living in Tampa, Florida, he helped manage clubs. He also managed clubs while living in Key West, Florida. He loved the island and all his friends there. Even with all his friends, no one knew the depression he hid from everyone, including family and friends. Depression is a disease and it can destroy you from within. One can laugh on the outside and cry on the inside. Depression will destroy you unless you get or ask for help. Please reach out to someone, anyone, so your parents or loved ones don’t have to be doing what we are doing now: Writing our son’s obituary. The void and emptiness left in our hearts will never heal and can never be fixed. Depression is a disease: Get help now before it is too late, please! Larry had loving uncles, aunts, and many cousins who are feeling his loss as well. This includes Larry Abrams and his wife, Judy, of Tunkhannock, Fred and Audra Failing of Missouri, Earl and wife Laura Abrams, Judy Abrams, Eleanore Wilsey, cousins Larry S. Abrams and children Evan and Blake, Peggi Wilsey, James and wife Genett DeWitt, and many second and third cousins. He had a family who loved him. Depression keeps you from thinking anyone really cares about you, leaves you feeling alone, and keeps people at a distance, not letting anyone know the real you. A week before his passing, our son said to me, “Mom, I don’t seem to fit in anywhere, like I don’t belong anywhere.” I pray God will forgive him, and will give him peace, for now he has hopefully found what he couldn’t find here on earth. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday evening, October 19th at 8:00 PM from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, Inc. 73 West Tioga St. Tunkhannock, PA 18657 with a gathering of friends and family from 6:00 PM until the time of the service.
