Captain Flanagan was my first Commanding Officer on my first sea tour on board USS Davis (DD937).
I was extremely lucky to have him as my CO and my memories of our deployments to the Middle East Force and to the Sixth Fleet are some of the fondest of my lifetime.

Alan,Thank you.
For everything you did for me and my family.
Our children all loved their Uncle Alan.
I will always remember his quick wit, his jokes, his golf stories our fishing trips. Most of all I will miss his intellect he was a brilliant man. Our conversations were always challenging, his knowledge of foreign affairs was extraordinary.
Farewell Captain Flanagan
I wish on your journey " Fair winds and following seas"
An Irish prayer for you
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
The rain fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand”

Thank you for sharing your joyful and generous heart with the world. You and Judy are so blessed to have found each other and shared your lives together. I will never forget the many scrambled eggs and bacon you cooked me on my visits to and from college and thereafter. I'll forever cherish the stories you shared and the lessons you taught me. You are missed and so loved by many.

First met Al when we were the repair crew for the Dietrich Theater after the 2011 flood. He was cheerful and willing to add a sly
comment to keep all of us on our toes. Sam and I were trying to get him to go fishing and I promised him that this time I would share my secret lure with him, Sam promised baloney and cheese sandwiches for lunch. Al demanded that we have mustard and he would come. Missed out this time. Next time Al. Good Thoughts are with you always, So sorry Judy.

Alan & Judy had whirlwind romance and they didn't to waste anytime getting married. They only had 4 1/2 years together but they lived a lifetime in that short amount of time. They were laughing all the time and blessed wtih the opportunity to do some traveling and create some wonderful memories together Alan was so in love with Judy. He made her so happy and brought her such joy. He will be missed.
