Philip Vaughan Nevin, 71, of Tunkhannock passed away on Monday May 23, 2022 at Tyler Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Gillian Steadman Nevin and his beloved dogs Lance and Ziggy. Born in Madrid, Spain on October 12, 1950 he is the son of the late Louis McDuffee and Louise Vaughan Whitehead Nevin. He graduated from the University of London with a bachelor’s degree and attended the Sorbonne University of Paris shortly after. In 1975 he earned his masters and in 1979 his ABD from Indiana University Bloomington. Philip was a professor at Penn State Scranton starting in 1981 and several other area universities. He later taught at Abington Heights School as a French and Spanish teacher until his retirement in 2015. While being an educator was his passion, he also enjoyed traveling the world with his wife. In addition to his wife, he is survived by brothers, Louis Nevin and wife Philippa of France, Paul Nevin and wife Pilar of Mexico City; several nieces and nephews.
